Free online search for medieval military ancestors newly available

Free online search for medieval military ancestors newly available

London, UK (PRWEB UK) 25 January 2012

Many families have ancestors who fought bloody battles with swords and bows and arrows, serving in the British military under Henry V or fighting in the Hundred Years War, yet to date it has been difficult to find information to support this. The new Medieval Soldier Database which has gone live on the Forces War Records website is offering free searches of an extensive database which includes muster roll evidence showing which Lord each soldier worked for, as well as full profiles of individual soldiers, organised by name, surname, rank and date of record, and all types of soldier profiles, from a royal duke to a peasant archer.

Of interest to the discerning family historian, these records are presented in an easy searchable format, and provide a great resource for tracing family military ancestry back to 1350. Uniquely, these medieval war records also match relevant battles and campaigns to each solider where applicable.

Prior to the arrival of the printing press in the 1440’s, spelling was not standardised and names often appeared in either Latin, the Church’s main language, or French which the Royal Court used. The Medieval Soldier Database allows for alternate spellings of surnames to broaden the search possibilities.

Forces War Records holds the most extensive database of British Armed Forces who either died in battle or are still alive today. Search military records by name and unit, and find out more about military genealogy on the Forces War Records website.

Online IT Bachelor Degree – Best Affordable Online Degrees

Essex Junction, VT (PRWEB) August 02, 2011

GetEducated.com, a consumer group that publishes rankings and reviews of the best colleges online based on higher education costs and credibility, has released their list of the Best Online Colleges for an online IT bachelor degree on the dimension of college affordability.

The Get Educated online college affordability rankings are based on a survey of higher education costs at 43 regionally accredited universities that offer 88 online computer degrees at the bachelor program level.

Fort Hays State University Online (KS), ranked #1 and #2 on the Get Educated online college affordability rankings for their online bachelor of science in various IT career areas and their online bachelors degree in technology leadership.

Online students will pay about $ 21,000 for an online computer science degree from Fort Hays. At Fort Hays, a state college, online students nationwide enjoy the same low cost tuition as Kansas residents.

The Thomas Edison State College Distance Learning program ranked #3 in cost savings for their online computer science bachelor degree. New Jersey residents will pay about $ 22,586 for an online degree. Non-residents will pay more (about $ 37,140).

By comparison, the average higher education costs for an online IT bachelor degree or a computer science degree online came in at $ 46,758.

Among the top most expensive online IT degrees for computer professionals: Rochester Institute of Technology University (NY) ($ 85,140) and Mercy College (NY) ($ 86,340). Both are private traditional universities which offer online degree programs.

Kaplan University Online, one of America’s largest for-profit online schools, earned a “D” for college affordability for their online IT bachelor degree at a cost of about $ 66,780 — more than three times that of the #1 best buy, Fort Hays.

“Online university students can pay as little as $ 21,000 or as much as $ 86,000 for an online IT bachelor degree,” says Vicky Phillips, founder of GetEducated.com, the only group in the nation to publish online college affordability rankings, “Clearly it pays for non-traditional students to Get Educated about higher education costs before they enroll,” says Phillips.

Consumers can compare more than 300 computer science degrees online by cost, public reputation, and student reviews by searching the Get Educated directory of online colleges.

Rent One Online is introducing the ability for travelers to vacation rental properties to get quotes and book Avis and Budget rental cars via Rent One Online’s rental property management and vacation travel software. Rent One Online’s solution is used by vacation rental managers, “destination area” real estate offices, resorts and web sites that list vacation rental properties.

Rent One Online is the first vacation rental company to directly integrate car rental booking within its web-based reservation and vacation property management software. Rent One Online, and its network of customers, can now offer quality Avis and Budget rental cars to vacation rental travelers from the initial “point of booking” through the “point of stay”. Rental managers win by providing better service and by sharing in the travel agency commission received by Rent One Online; the vacation rental traveler wins via the convenience of a “one-stop shop” for a complete vacation.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to work with Rent One Online and the new market opportunity it represents for us,” said Kaye Ceille, vice president of travel industry and partnerships for Avis Budget Car Rental, LLC, (formerly Cendant Car Rental Group), parent company of Avis Rent A Car and Budget Rent A Car. “Many customers that are booking a vacation rental also need a rental car. This is an easy and time-saving solution that customers will really benefit from. ”

Jim Metcalf is the owner of Hawaii Resort Management in Kona, Hawaii and is using Rent One Online to manage his 300 rental properties. EternalToy.com Lets Parents Trade Their Children’s Toys in First Online Toy Swap Meet

EternalToy.com Lets Parents Trade Their Children’s Toys in First Online Toy Swap Meet

Fort Smith, AR (PRWEB) August 18, 2011

EternalToy.com is a new website with a very creative idea: allow kids and parents to swap their old toys with each other, allowing for a less expensive option while keeping the “toy footprint” of the home from growing out of control. EternalToy.com does not charge anything for the toys themselves, but only for the shipping and handling necessary to get the the toy to its new owner. The process is so simple that even a child can do it, and there are several benefits for participating in the first online toy swap meet. There are also multiple incentive programs being offered to encourage people to participate and help grow the online toy trading community.

Many parents and grandparents are over run with old toys. Children grow up, find different pastimes, and sometimes just grow bored with their old toys. These toys accumulate and eventually get placed in yard sales, or just plain thrown out. These toys are usually replaced with newer and more expensive toys that better fit the child’s interest or age. And thus the cycle begins again. EternalToy.com helps break this cycle, by allowing your child to give away his toy to someone else, and in exchange, gets to pick another toy from any toy currently on the site.

The process has been simplified so that even children can understand and participate. Once the child or parent lists a toy and that toy is selected by someone else, the user is emailed a shipping label and packages the toy in a free Flat Rate Priority box. That user then gets a point. That point can be traded in for any other toy on the entire site. Once the user finds a toy that they want, they pay only the shipping and handling required to get their toy to their home.

EternalToy.com is currently offering several incentive programs to help grow the online toy trade community. For a limited time, every toy listed gets the user an entry into a drawing for a $ 50 Toys R Us gift card. There will be one gift card awarded for every 500 entries. Also, EternalToy.com is giving a $ 1 bonus credit each time a listed toy is selected by another user. Finally, EternalToy.com’s referral program is designed to help grow the online toy trade community, while rewarding the users that make it possible. Every referred friend will receive a $ 2 bonus credit when their first listed toy is chosen. The friend that referred them then gets $ 1 too. EternalToy.com will also be announcing an affiliate program soon, that will offer rewards for websites that send users to the site. Those interested in the affiliate program can use the Contact Us form on the website.

EternalToy.com was created by Jeremy Schreckhise, Michael DeSanto, and Chris Dungan of Fort Smith, Arkansas. They are all Information Technology Professionals with over 25 combined years of website design and IT security experience. Jeremy and Michael are also proud parents, who appreciate the benefits trading toys instead of having their homes overrun with unused toys.

Those that would like more information, or would like to begin trading toys can visit http://www.eternaltoy.com

Online Dictionary Opens Powered by Webster and WordNet Dictionaries

Online Dictionary Opens Powered by Webster and WordNet Dictionaries

(PRWEB) January 16, 2005

Yesterday, w3dictionary.com opened to the public. W3 Dictionary provides high quality definitions to several hundred thousand English words. w3dictionary.com uses the online 1913 (mw) Webster’s dictionary and the online WordNet dictionary in order to provide the definitions along with synonyms, antonyms, ‘related words’ or ‘see also’ words, and more.

There is reported to be a thesaurus in the making, as w3thesaurus dot com is owned by the same company and looks as if it is planned for development. The company hasn’t released any information regarding a thesaurus yet.

“There is a huge need for a quick loading, accurate and reliable online dictionary in my opinion,” an employee of W3 Dictionary announced today, “and we believe W3 Dictionary dot com is the answer to that. We provide quick searching features, simple and ‘easy to remember’ web addresses so you can access W3 Dictionary on the go.” He continued, “we believe W3 Dictionary will be a huge success given the correct publicity and chance to prove it’s reliability.”

Being 54 million results for ‘dictionary’ on Google and as many more on the Yahoo Search Engine, we know it’s going to be hard for W3 Dictionary to compete. W3 Dictionary .com is being designed to be ‘user’ and ‘search engine’ friendly.

“We are working on adding more dictionarys to W3 Dictionary, including German dictionary, French dictionary, Spanish dictionary (and several other languages), WWW dictionary (world wide web terms), acronym / acronyms dictionary, computer terms dictionary – similar to WWW, and many more,” Scott Andrews said in an online interview published by a private source.

Visit the website – http://www.w3dictionary.com – for more information on the service, what’s planned, and definitions!

Direct Event Insurance Announces New Online Tool for Analyzing and Mitigating Event Risks

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) July 28, 2011

Having event insurance is a must for planning a corporate function, music festival or party. Practicing sound risk management techniques is another imperative for peace of mind. Direct Event Insurance has recently created a free online tool for planning out and providing proper consideration for the risks that may be present in an upcoming event.

According to Bryan Warren, COO of Direct Event insurance, “the event organizer should be careful to think about all the perils and the “what can go wrongs” ahead of time. Classic risk management provides four alternatives to dealing with risk. Probably the most common option is to eliminate the exposure and avoid it all together. The second option is to change or modify the event activity to reduce the peril. A third alternative is to accept the hazard and set aside funds in order to pay for damages should it occur. Finally, the fourth method is to transfer or share the risk and obtain proper insurance.”

Direct Event Insurance has developed a risk management tool for event planners to utilize when planning the next event. The new tool allows the event planner to list out each contingency and decide ahead of time to avoid, reduce, share or retain the risk. Click event risk matrix for the free event risk analysis tool.

PDL Marketing Opens Third U.S. Office to Deploy New, Online Payday Loan Processing Software

August 19, 2011 By: WongB3 Category: Palm Beach Gardens

PDL Marketing Opens Third U.S. Office to Deploy New, Online Payday Loan Processing Software

Wilmington, DE (PRWEB) August 8, 2005 – Thomas Becks, CEO of Wilmington-

based PDL Marketing LLC, announced today the opening of the company’s third U.S. office to support its burgeoning sales to the financial services industry. Cleveland, Ohio will be the base of operations for the company’s newest offering, PDLTrax™. PDL Marketing already operates from locations in Wilmington, Delaware and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

“We’re anxious to hit the ground running in Cleveland as we gear up for the launch of PDLTrax™,” announced Becks. “It’s an exciting time for the company. With the new Cleveland operation we will be fully leveraging our expertise and contacts within the online marketing side of the payday loan phenomena.

“For clients who are making the transition from a brick and mortar operation to an online venture, we’re now in a position to not only generate new applicant leads for them, but with PDLTrax™, we will be able to provide them a complete, turnkey, online operation,” Becks maintained.

The company’s new Enterprise Parkway operation in the Highland Hills section of Cleveland will be headed by PDL Marketing’s Jeremy Hansen. Currently, final development of PDLTrax™ will be the focus of operations until an expected launch in the fall of 2005.

According to Jeremy Hansen, “We’re really in full beta mode right now here, putting PDLTrax™ through its final paces in anticipation of rolling out during the FISCA show in New York this September. And once we’ve unveiled the new software in New York we’ll be one-hundred-percent dedicated to supporting customers out of this office.”

PDLTrax™ is an Internet-based solution for both storefront merchants and call centers to quickly migrate applicants to loan clients, easily and accurately through an automated underwriting process. Existing in-store personnel can use PDLTrax™ to manage loan uptake and processing fully online, with minimal training.

PDLTrax™ seamless integrates all the industry specific software required to quantify the decision to fund the applicant, process applications, run Teletrack© reports and provide payday loan managers with on-demand, real-time reporting across the entire spectrum of loan activity.

The PDL Trax™ system will tap into credit bureau data in real time and uses standard bank decision support models to help lenders make accurate credit decisions, quickly. Once approved, Truth In Lending Act forms and other documentation are automatically populated and delivered to customer.

Once the loan is originated the system will be able to either generate an ACH for the customer, or fund via check, cash, or even debit card. The system also features a comprehensive collections module with complete tracking, management, notation, renewal, payment and charge-off features. State-by-state regulatory compliance will be built into the system.

In addition to the new Cleveland address, PDL Marketing’s Wilmington and Palm Beach Gardens offices currently manage the company’s existing payday loan lead generation business. Some of PDL Marketing’s clients are simply looking for fully completed applications from qualified borrowers, and PDL Marketing can provide these clients a guaranteed number of new applicants each week for as little as $ 18 per lead.

“We’re acting as a behind-the-scenes marketing department for our payday lending clients. Not only have we been able to slash their marketing cost by over 90% through our proprietary online methods, but we’ve dramatically increased their coffers. We have taken several clients from $ 100,000 a month in new loans to over $ 2 million in just 6 months,” says Richard Hansen, CIO of PDL Marketing, LLC.

At one time the payday loan business was derided because the fees on a percentage basis appear to be extremely high. But because the loan amounts are so low, the actual dollar cost to the borrower is actually quite low, often less than what banks charge for a bounced check. Borrowers aren’t complaining. Just before Christmas last year, more than 10 million people took out a payday loan. Consumers praise the ease of qualifying and the speed of acquiring cash they cannot get from “traditional” lenders.

Authentium Offers 60-Day Free Trial of SafeCentral Secure Browser for the Online Holiday Shopping Season : SafeCentral Protects Online Shoppers with a Safe and Secure Online Holiday Shopping Experience

Authentium Offers 60-Day Free Trial of SafeCentral Secure Browser for the Online Holiday Shopping Season : SafeCentral Protects Online Shoppers with a Safe and Secure Online Holiday Shopping Experience

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (PRWEB) November 26, 2008

The usual free trial period for SafeCentral is 30 days, but Authentium is giving all online shoppers an additional 30 days of free use in an effort to extend and guarantee a safe online experience throughout the holiday season. The promotion will extend past this shopping season into 2009 and protect consumers who may be using new gift cards, shopping for online post-holiday sales, and returning holiday gifts.

SafeCentral uses a pioneering new technology called “reverse sandboxing” to protect the login information, passwords, and financial data consumers enter into their computers even if the computer is already infected with data-stealing malware. This new technology ensures the integrity of online holiday shopping, banking, and other transactions even when all other security tools fail. It is easy to download and install at http://www.safecentral.com, where the free 60-day trial offer begins today and runs through January 15, 2009.

“The 2008 holiday season is expected to be one of the most profitable for cybercriminals,” says Ray Dickenson, Chief Technology Officer at Authentium. “Online shoppers today are faced with largely unseen risks to their credit card and other sensitive information from crimeware that silently records each key pressed during web banking and shopping sessions. Each year record numbers of shoppers use the Internet to do their holiday gift buying, and this creates increasing opportunities for cyber-thieves to harvest credit card numbers and passwords. At Authentium we see this as an opportunity to throw down the gauntlet and show shoppers just how easy it can be to protect themselves online during this special time of the year. With just one click, SafeCentral shields shoppers from online identity theft. There’s never been an easier, more effective way to keep personal information private online.”

Traditional anti-virus, anti-spyware, and other consumer desktop security tools try to stop malicious software from infecting a computer. But as anyone who reads the news headlines knows, once a hacker slips pasts those defenses and infiltrates a PC, online banking and shopping is no longer safe. SafeCentral operates differently. SafeCentral assumes your PC is already infected and instead stops the spyware from accessing or modifying any of your secure information, like credit card numbers, bank account details, and mailing addresses. It literally locks down your computer and opens up a secure Web browser that crimeware cannot see. This allows users to do their holiday shopping online in complete security.

To register for the free trial of SafeCentral, visit http://www.SafeCentral.com and click on the “Try it now” link. Financial institutions interested in a demonstration of SafeCentral or in distributing SafeCentral to their customers should contact Authentium at Sales@SafeCentral.com.

Over Half (56%) of Consumers Expect Good Law Firms to Offer Legal Services Online

Over Half (56%) of Consumers Expect Good Law Firms to Offer Legal Services Online

Virtual Lawyering Made Simple

Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and London, England (PRWEB) May 7, 2010

A majority of consumers expect good law firms to offer their services online in the next couple of years, a survey of over 2,000 people has shown.

The online poll, carried out by YouGov* on behalf of Epoq UK, the UK affiliate of Epoq US, also revealed that nearly half (47%) of consumers would be more likely to choose a law firm that offered the convenience of online access to legal services and documents over one that had no online service capability.

Some 56% said they expected good law firms to give customers the ability to use their services online in the next couple of years.

Consumers see online services as a chance to reduce their legal fees. Over two-fifths (43%) agreed that they would change law firms if an alternative firm offered a reduced fee in return for the consumer providing initial details about their matter online.

The research uncovered no significant differences in attitudes between age groups, with only consumers 55 or older being less concerned with online service delivery. Slightly more men (50%) than women (45%) said they were more likely to choose a law firm which offered online services.

“As the Internet has become an ever increasingly popular way for both consumers and businesses to access and buy a range of goods and services, the legal profession is finding it too needs to address client demand for convenient and affordable services,” commented Richard Granat, CEO Epoq, US, Inc. and DirectLaw, Inc., a web-based virtual law firm platform for law firms that enables delivery of legal services online. “While this research was conducted in the United Kingdom, the UK legal market is not much different than the US legal market. The research shows that more and more consumers are expecting legal services to be delivered online. Law firms that don’t pay attention to these accelerating trends will lose market share to law firms that embrace the future.”

“Our DirectLaw web service is helping law firms of all sizes do just that. It provides them with a cost-effective online capability, which allows them to offer their clients a convenient way of creating legal documents online and at a fixed or reduced fee, collaborating with their attorneys online, purchasing legal advice online and paying their legal bills online. This is the future for legal services in the United States, particularly for solos and small law firms.”

Editor’s Notes: *All figures, unless otherwise stated, are from YouGov Plc. Total sample size was 2,266 adults. Fieldwork was undertaken March 2-4, 2010. The survey was carried out online.
