Free online search for medieval military ancestors newly available

Free online search for medieval military ancestors newly available

London, UK (PRWEB UK) 25 January 2012

Many families have ancestors who fought bloody battles with swords and bows and arrows, serving in the British military under Henry V or fighting in the Hundred Years War, yet to date it has been difficult to find information to support this. The new Medieval Soldier Database which has gone live on the Forces War Records website is offering free searches of an extensive database which includes muster roll evidence showing which Lord each soldier worked for, as well as full profiles of individual soldiers, organised by name, surname, rank and date of record, and all types of soldier profiles, from a royal duke to a peasant archer.

Of interest to the discerning family historian, these records are presented in an easy searchable format, and provide a great resource for tracing family military ancestry back to 1350. Uniquely, these medieval war records also match relevant battles and campaigns to each solider where applicable.

Prior to the arrival of the printing press in the 1440’s, spelling was not standardised and names often appeared in either Latin, the Church’s main language, or French which the Royal Court used. The Medieval Soldier Database allows for alternate spellings of surnames to broaden the search possibilities.

Forces War Records holds the most extensive database of British Armed Forces who either died in battle or are still alive today. Search military records by name and unit, and find out more about military genealogy on the Forces War Records website.

WineZap Launches New Website to Help Wine Consumers Find, Price and Compare Wines; Subscribers to WineZap’s Free Newsletter Offered
22% off Any Wine, Regardless of Quantity Purchased

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 15, 2004

WineZap today announced the launch of a new website WineZap.com, a free online service that helps wine consumers to find, price, and compare wines. WineZap.com assists both fine wine lovers and casual wine drinkers to buy wines by making it easy to find a wine, compare it with other wines, and find the lowest wine prices across hundreds of U.S. retailers.

To help promote the launch of WineZap.com, the Wine Library in Springfield New Jersey is offering anyone who subscribes to WineZap’s free newsletter 22% off any non sale wine item, regardless of quantity purchased. To get the Wine Library coupon code, which is good through September 1, 2004, go to WineZap Wine Deals for full details.

WineZap.com offers five unique methods to discover new wines. The most exciting are wine ratings by consumers and the ability to search for wines by pairing food and wine. WineZap.com users write wine tasting notes and wine reviews based on their experience. Other users can then search by the wine ratings looking for high quality, top value wines. If someone is looking to enhance his or her dining experience, WineZap.com’s unique wine search engine can find the perfect food and wine pairings.

WineZap.com users can also search for wines based on the country of origin, the varietal type, or price and focus their search results through any combination of the search parameters. For example, a user who is seeking a well-priced red wine with a good rating can easily enter that search and instantly see results that include information about the wine and reviews by other users.

Once wine lovers have located a wine, they can use WineZap.com to compare not only wine prices, but any applicable tax, and an approximate shipping cost among hundreds of U.S. retailers. WineZap.com’s advanced wine search technology can navigate the complex wine shipping laws and display only retailers that are able to ship directly to the consumer’s home. Further, a user can setup a price alert; the system will notify him or her by email once the price for a wine meets that consumer’s request.

WineZap.com also offers an innovative comparison engine that allows wine consumers to compare wines by any combination of factors including wine prices, wine ratings, country or region of origin, food and wine match and varietal type. For example, it can recommend 10 red wines from the United States under $ 20 that are highly scored by other wine lovers.

WineZap also publishes a free daily email newsletter. WineZap’s editors review offers from hundred’s of retailers every day and email subscribers the best discounts, rarest finds, and most interesting buys. To become a subscriber, go to WineZap’s free newsletter.

Shaun Bishop, WineZap’s CEO and founder, said, “All of these services make WineZap.com one of the most comprehensive wine websites for both fine wine lovers and casual wine drinkers.” To arrange an interview, please contact Shaun Bishop at (510) 547-9030 or shaun@winezap.com.

It works. It’s free. Duh… K12LTSP 4.0 (K12 Linux Terminal Server Project)

It works. It’s free. Duh…
K12LTSP 4.0 (K12 Linux Terminal Server Project)

Portland, Oregon (PRWEB) December 18, 2003

It works. It’s free. Duh…

Portland, Oregon – December 17, 2003 – K12LTSP is FREE Linux desktop server software with a successful record of saving millions of dollars for schools, public agencies and businesses. Developed in 2001 by Oregon educators as a FREE alternative for schools using the Microsoft Windows(tm) operating system, K12LTSP is now used widely around the world. Version 4.0 represents a significant step forward in speed, ease of use and features. More than 50,000 schools, government agencies and businesses downloaded K12LTSP last year. Version 4 will be even more popular.

K12LTSP is based on Fedora Core 1 Linux (http://fedora.redhat.com/) and the Linux Terminal Server Project (http://ltsp.org) packages. Fedora is a Red-Hat-sponsored (http://redhat.com) and community-supported open source project. Open source licensing produces better software because the code is published freely and users are encouraged to submit improvements.

K12TLSP installs terminal software on a server that powers diskless workstations (thin-clients). Applications run on the server with only the display, keyboard and mouse running on the workstations. This allows the continued use of older computers while avoiding costly upgrades. New K12LTSP terminals cost less than $ 200 each. While the cost of operation is lower, users enjoy a faster and more reliable software environment. K12LTSP is also immune from the most common viruses that can cripple organizations with hundreds of networked workstations.

A typical 100 desktop installation of a Windows(tm) based computer network could cost more than $ 100,000 while the same network running K12LTSP would cost less than than $ 50,000. Reusing legacy hardware can reduce that cost to less than $ 10,000. K12LTSP is FREE software. There are no licenses to count or pay for. Users are encouraged to make copies and give it away.

K12LTSP provides a wide selection of productivity applications. Web browsers, e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and graphics applications are included and are free. The point and click interface is easy to use and requires little or no retraining.

After two years of using K12LTSP at Riverdale High School in Portland, Oregon, technology director Paul Nelson is back in the classroom. “I used to spend all day fighting viruses and working on computers. Now I teach again. My school gained back a teacher and saved $ 50,000.”

The motto of the K12LTSP project is, “It works. It’s free. Duh…”

Improvements in K12LTSP 4.0 include:

Gnome 2.4 Desktop with Nautilus file manager (http://www.gnome.org )

KDE 3.1 ( http://www.kde.org )

LTSP 4.0 core package (http://www.ltsp.org ) including easier configuration, secure connectivity for local applications and screen scripting for multiple sessions on a single terminal.

OpenOffice 1.1 – office productivity suite (http://www.openoffice.org )

Improved video performance with XFree86 version 4.3 ext3 journaled file system

Auto detection of PCI network, video, & sound cards

DCHP 3.0 supporting both BOOTP and PXE booting by default

Evolution e-mail package (http://www.ximian.com )

Rdesktop ( http://www.rdesktop.org ) Windows Remote Desktop Client

Samba & Netatalk – Windows/AppleShare file servers

SquidGuard – Free web content filtering (http://www.squidguard.org )

Authentium Offers 60-Day Free Trial of SafeCentral Secure Browser for the Online Holiday Shopping Season : SafeCentral Protects Online Shoppers with a Safe and Secure Online Holiday Shopping Experience

Authentium Offers 60-Day Free Trial of SafeCentral Secure Browser for the Online Holiday Shopping Season : SafeCentral Protects Online Shoppers with a Safe and Secure Online Holiday Shopping Experience

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (PRWEB) November 26, 2008

The usual free trial period for SafeCentral is 30 days, but Authentium is giving all online shoppers an additional 30 days of free use in an effort to extend and guarantee a safe online experience throughout the holiday season. The promotion will extend past this shopping season into 2009 and protect consumers who may be using new gift cards, shopping for online post-holiday sales, and returning holiday gifts.

SafeCentral uses a pioneering new technology called “reverse sandboxing” to protect the login information, passwords, and financial data consumers enter into their computers even if the computer is already infected with data-stealing malware. This new technology ensures the integrity of online holiday shopping, banking, and other transactions even when all other security tools fail. It is easy to download and install at http://www.safecentral.com, where the free 60-day trial offer begins today and runs through January 15, 2009.

“The 2008 holiday season is expected to be one of the most profitable for cybercriminals,” says Ray Dickenson, Chief Technology Officer at Authentium. “Online shoppers today are faced with largely unseen risks to their credit card and other sensitive information from crimeware that silently records each key pressed during web banking and shopping sessions. Each year record numbers of shoppers use the Internet to do their holiday gift buying, and this creates increasing opportunities for cyber-thieves to harvest credit card numbers and passwords. At Authentium we see this as an opportunity to throw down the gauntlet and show shoppers just how easy it can be to protect themselves online during this special time of the year. With just one click, SafeCentral shields shoppers from online identity theft. There’s never been an easier, more effective way to keep personal information private online.”

Traditional anti-virus, anti-spyware, and other consumer desktop security tools try to stop malicious software from infecting a computer. But as anyone who reads the news headlines knows, once a hacker slips pasts those defenses and infiltrates a PC, online banking and shopping is no longer safe. SafeCentral operates differently. SafeCentral assumes your PC is already infected and instead stops the spyware from accessing or modifying any of your secure information, like credit card numbers, bank account details, and mailing addresses. It literally locks down your computer and opens up a secure Web browser that crimeware cannot see. This allows users to do their holiday shopping online in complete security.

To register for the free trial of SafeCentral, visit http://www.SafeCentral.com and click on the “Try it now” link. Financial institutions interested in a demonstration of SafeCentral or in distributing SafeCentral to their customers should contact Authentium at Sales@SafeCentral.com.

About Authentium

Authentium develops software and services to protect consumers in a connected world. The company’s core technologies are used by leading software providers including Google, Microsoft, and Symantec to create or enhance industry-leading computer security products. Additionally, Authentium’s same core security expertise is also expressed in the continued development of Command Anti-Malware, the award winning Antivirus product from Authentium. The company was incorporated in 2000, and is located in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. For more information, visit http://www.authentium.com.

Iraq War Veteran Creating a Promising Future While Living Free at Union Square

Iraq War Veteran Creating a Promising Future While Living Free at Union Square

(PRWEB) December 20, 2004

From his new apartment at Union Square, Iraq war veteran John Burman can look back on five months of major transformation. Having returned from the war without a place to live or work, Burman is now enjoying a new job and an active life at Union Square in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the community that gave him a home.

Last Memorial Day Palm Beach Gardens welcomed home Infantry Squad Leader John Burman as the Guest of Honor at their community parade. Today Burman is settling comfortably into civilian life, thanks in large part to the people at Union Square. When Ceebraid-Signal Corporation, owners of the rental community, learned that Burman needed assistance getting back on his feet, they offered him a one-year lease free of charge.

“It’s been wonderful being home again and I’m so grateful to the people at Union Square,” says Burman. “They took a huge weight off of my shoulders in terms of getting adjusted and finding a place to live. The community here has been great. Everyone’s been really friendly and helpful.” Union Square is located on Military Trail just south of PGA Blvd.

Burman, who is now working as an investigator for a law firm in West Palm Beach, notes that he’s taking full advantage of the amenities at Union Square. While the community offers a full fitness center, fitness trail, movie theater and tennis court to keep him busy, Burman says he most enjoys relaxing at one of the three swimming pools. Not owning a computer of his own, Burman also spends a lot of time at the business center where he can catch up on emails and work on his future employment goals.

His plans for the future are falling into place. Burman, who received the Bronze Star for his service in Iraq, wants to work for the FBI. He has already applied and is awaiting the physical examination. As soon as a spot opens, he will begin FBI training school. He expects that to happen within the next six months.

With his father residing in Juno Beach and his mother in West Palm Beach, Burman now lives close to family and is moving closer to a secure and successful future. This decorated veteran has certainly earned all that and more.

For more information contact Rosalind Sedacca at 561 835-4003 or Suzanne Echeverria at Union Square at 561 622-8555 or visit http://www.unionsquareapts.com. Photograph available.

Free Mortgage Modification and Foreclosure Defense Clinic for Homeowners Presented by LaBovick & LaBovick, P.A.

August 17, 2010 By: WongB3 Category: Palm Beach Gardens

Free Mortgage Modification and Foreclosure Defense Clinic for Homeowners Presented by LaBovick & LaBovick, P.A.

LaBovick & LaBovick P.A.

Palm Beach Gardens, FL (PRWEB) February 11, 2010

LaBovick & LaBovick, P.A. will hold a FREE Mortgage Modification and Foreclosure Defense Clinic for Homeowners at its office in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 p.m. and again on Wednesday, March 10, 2010. Attorney Scott R. Haft, Esq. and Paul D. Baltrun, Director of Loss Mitigation, both of LaBovick & LaBovick, P.A., will conduct the Mortgage Modification and Foreclosure Defense seminar at 5220 Hood Road, Suite 200, Palm Beach Gardens. Space is Limited, and an RSVP is required to attend these events.

Managing Shareholder, Brian F. LaBovick, Esq., stated, “In the last two years the economy has utterly destroyed the equity for many homeowners. In some cases, the family home is now a liability instead of an asset. Recent statistics from the Mortgage Bankers Association show 25 percent of mortgages in Florida were at least one payment past due or in foreclosure.”

“Today, many families need help. We created the Mortgage Foreclosure Defense and Mortgage Modification Division at LaBovick & LaBovick, PA. to help homeowners. We believe that homeowners in financial distress deserve a fair deal and that a loan modification can help provide this opportunity. Foreclosure Defense adds leverage to our ability to negotiate with a lender. Losing a home to foreclosure is a traumatic experience, and our goal is to help homeowners prevent this tragedy.”

LaBovick & LaBovick, P.A.’s Mortgage Modification and foreclosure defense Division offers clients many benefits and services, including the following:

1.    Defense against Foreclosure: When the LaBovick team defends a foreclosure, it attacks the mortgage and effectively advocates on behalf of a distressed homeowner, providing them time to explore additional options.

2.    Mortgage Modification: Mortgage Modification programs, such as bank sponsored or federally sponsored initiatives like the Obama Administration’s “Making Home Affordable” program, provide such features as a lower or fixed interest rate, and a lower principal balance. The LaBovick team works with a homeowner’s lender to obtain the best option as well as a modification approval.

3.    Accuracy of Approval or Denial: Sometimes a borrower’s payments do not decrease because their lender failed to calculate their figures correctly. Sometimes a lender will even decline a file when they should not. In examples such as these, the LaBovick team will work to help borrowers reverse the lender’s decision and fight to keep families in their homes.

According to Paul Baltrun, Director of Loss Mitigation, LaBovick & LaBovick, P.A., “When working with a bank directly to obtain a modification, it can be a nightmare. The LaBovick team can help with the hassles lenders often conveniently create. Many lenders are so behind they cannot process requests efficiently. This allows our team to handle the many burdens the lenders can create for the distressed homeowner.”

Call 561-625-8282 to RSVP for the Mortgage Modification and Foreclosure Defense Clinic, and to learn how LaBovick & LaBovick, P.A. can help with your mortgage modification or foreclosure defense matter.
